Predicting The Rest Of College GameDay’s Locations For The 2018 Season

first_imgThe College GameDay crew in Columbus Ohio.ESPN College GameDayAt long last, we know where College GameDay is heading for Week 1. ESPN’s beloved show will be in South Bend for the huge opening game between Notre Dame and Michigan. It is an inspired choice for the show on a number of levels. The opening week of college football is often limited to big neutral site games. This is an awesome on-campus rivalry match-up.Because it is a Notre Dame home game, it is also being broadcast on NBC. It wouldn’t have been a huge shock to see ESPN go with one of the games it will air on its networks.Instead, we get what should be a fantastic atmosphere from South Bend. But what about the rest of the year? Where else will College GameDay go?Here are my predictions for the rest of the 2018 season’s College GameDay locations.First up, we will hopefully double-dip once again for Week 1.Week 1: Florida State vs. Virginia Tech (Sept. 3) Florida State hosts NC State at Doak Campbell Stadium.(Photo by Doug Benc/Getty Images)Last season, we got double College GameDay for Week 1, with episodes ahead of the Saturday slate, and the Monday night game. Assuming we get the same again, GameDay will be on hand for Willie Taggart’s first game at Florida State against Virginia Tech.Week 2: Texas A&M vs. Clemson (Sept. 8) Fans at Texas A&M for a game vs. Arkansas.(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)The Aggies and Tigers have only faced off four times in history, with the last games coming in a 2004-05 home-and-home. It will be really cool to see the 2016 National Champions heading to Kyle Field, to face a coach that they are very familiar with: new A&M head man Jimbo Fisher.Week 3: TCU vs. Ohio State (Sept. 15, Arlington, TX) Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Arlington.(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)After a home-and-home with Oklahoma over the last two years, Ohio State gets another prominent Big 12 opponent early in the season. This year, it is Gary Patterson’s TCU Horned Frogs at Jerry World. The two sides haven’t played since 1973. Of course, as with everything to do with Ohio State right now, a lot of this comes down to whether Urban Meyer is head coach, and if not, what the team looks like without him.Week 4: Oregon vs. Stanford (Sept. 22) Oregon hosts Washington at Autzen Stadium.(Photo by Jonathan Ferrey/Getty Images)After two Group of Five teams and an FCS opponent to start the year, Oregon gets its first big test of the Mario Cristobal era in Week 4. This could also prove to be one of the most important match-ups of the Pac-12 season.Week 5: Penn State vs. Ohio State (Sept. 29) Penn State players run out onto the field.(Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)Penn State vs. Ohio State has probably be the most important game in the Big Ten over the last two years. That could certainly prove to be the case once again, with both of these programs eyeing the College Football Playoff. The Urban Meyer situation once again looms large here, but this should be one of the premier games of the Big Ten season.Week 6: Oklahoma vs. Texas (Oct. 6, Dallas, TX) Flagbearers wave the Burnt Orange and White flags of the Texas Longhorns in the Texas endzone before the game against the Oklahoma Sooners during the Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl.(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)Oklahoma and Texas face off at the Texas State Fair every year. This season, the Sooners are coming off of a College Football Playoff appearance, and both teams’ exciting young coaches are heading into year two. There’s a lot of juice for this one as a potential 2018 College GameDay site.Week 7: LSU vs. Georgia (Oct. 13) Fans watch during the game between the Louisiana State University Tigers and the University of Louisiana-Lafatette Ragin' Cajuns at Tiger Stadium.(Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)LSU has a tough early slate, but if it enters this one undefeated or with one loss, this could be a signature moment of Ed Orgeron’s Tigers program.NEXT: Weeks 8 Through 15 >>>Pages: Page 1 Page 2last_img read more
