Negredo expected to miss three months after undergoing surgery, says Man City boss Pellegrini

first_imgManchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed striker Alvaro Negredo has undergone surgery and is expected to be sidelined for three months. The Spanish striker suffered a fractured metatarsal in Friday’s pre-season friendly victory over Hearts.“Alvaro had surgery today on his broken foot and he will probably be out for two or three months,” said Pellegrini, speaking at a press conference ahead of the club’s match against Sporting Kansas City.“It is a blow for us because Alvaro is a very important member of our squad so obviously we will miss him.”Negredo became an instant hit with City fans after arriving in a £16million deal from Sevilla last summer. He scored an impressive 23 goals in his first 33 games but his form tailed off and he failed to score in the final four months of the season. He was linked with a move away from the Etihad earlier this summer, but put an end to speculation over his future last week by insisting he was happy at City.
