Video: ESPN’s First Take Debates Braxton Miller’s Position Change

first_imgStephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim on the set of ESPN First Take.If you aren’t a big fan of either Stephen A. Smith or Skip Bayless, you may want to skip this one. Friday, the two gave their takes on the Braxton-Miller-is-switching-positions news, and, as you might guess, it’s being met with a great deal of criticism. While Smith’s initial rant mostly goes in circles (per usual), he does mention that it initially gave him “cause for pause” when he heard that Miller, a black quarterback, was being encouraged to play another position. Considering the team’s other two options – J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones – are also black, he claims that this scenario is a bit different. Bayless, meanwhile, thinks that Barrett might win the position. According to Smith, there’s no chance of that happening.Enjoy, we think.last_img

Shaq Lawson: “We’re Going To Show Dalvin Cook Why He Should Have Come To Clemson”

Despite losing the last three matchups to the Seminoles, at least one Tigers player is confident about how his team will perform. Junior defensive end Shaq Lawson talked a bit of trash Monday, telling reporters that he believes that the Tigers will “show Dalvin Cook why he should have come to Clemson” by the time the game is over. Desmond Howard Says Ohio State Fan Flipped Him Off, Yelled “F*** Michigan” At Him Friday

(Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)ESPN’s College GameDay is in Columbus for tomorrow’s big showdown between Ohio State and Michigan State, which means that former Michigan star Desmond Howard, who is an analyst for the show, is in enemy territory. One Buckeyes supporter appears to have gone overboard in making sure Howard doesn’t feel at home.Friday morning, Howard, on SportsCenter, told Cari Champion that he’d been flipped off and screamed at by an Ohio State supporter on his walk to the set. Hours later, a fan claimed responsibility on Twitter and called out Howard in the process. We’ve gone ahead and transcribed what Howard told viewers. We imagine that the fan is going to eventually delete all of his tweets, including the video – it isn’t a good look at all.“On my way to the set, I came across a young man, a student here, who showed me that he thought I was No. 1 with one of his fingers and then he – he went on to say that, using this foul language, that he wanted to have some sort of weird sexual relations with Michigan. So I told him, hey buddy, I don’t blame you, I blame your parents and the way you were raised, have a good day young man.” Told Desmond Howard right to his face, “fuck Michigan” he wasn’t happy pic.twitter.com/7FVSVhcGE0— Matt Schroth (@Schroth21) November 20, 2015ok chill Desmond you didn’t say anything to me pic.twitter.com/tt5laMhEJy— Matt Schroth (@Schroth21) November 20, 2015.@DesmondHoward say it to my face next time and not on sports center. ‘I love Anfield!’ – Hazard gushes over ‘epic’ goal at Liverpool

first_imgEden Hazard has said he loves playing at Anfield as he reflected on the Carabao Cup third round goal he netted for Chelsea against Liverpool in September. The winger scored a mesmeric solo effort in the 85th minute to give the Blues a 2-1 victory after they had overturned a 1-0 Liverpool lead. Hazard has put a total of seven goals past the Reds in his career, four of which have come at Anfield, and also scored three days after the cup encounter when the teams met in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to Belgian publication HLN, Hazard said: “I love Anfield. The stadium, the pitch, the atmosphere. I love to play there.”I have already scored several goals at Anfield, always against Simon [Mignolet] – sorry! But this one was worth it. One of my most beautiful goals ever. It had everything. And it was also one against a big club. That gives it extra exposure.”I came on with 20 minutes to play. And I lost the first five balls I touched. I thought: ‘Oh, oops, this is all going wrong’. Until I started running and dribbling. I saw the gap and kicked the ball. Bam! The excitement was huge.”After the match I have watched the goal several times. On repeat. I do that from time to time in the bus.  The moments you enjoy.”All my friends sent me messages too. All very praising. ‘Wow’. There was even a video of the goal with the music of Titanic – didn’t you show that to me? Epic.”Hazard has been a vital player for Chelsea this term and is their top scorer with 12 goals, three ahead of Alvaro Morata in second. But there has been consistent speculation linking him with a move away from the Bridge, in particular to Real Madrid, and the Belgian has failed to rule out a move could be on the cards in the summer. He even admitted he dreamed of playing for Los Blancos as a child back in December. There have been suggestions that Real’s hierarchy see Hazard as the replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left to join Juventus last year.last_img read more

Celtic vs Airdrie: TV, stream & preview

first_imgCeltic begin 2019 with a trip to the Excelsior Stadium, where they will meet League One outfit Airdrie in a Scottish Cup fourth-round tie.The Hoops have spent the three-week winter break stewing over their defeat to Rangers before the end of 2018, and have responded decisively in the transfer window with three new additions already.Although the league remains the chief objective for the Parkhead club, defending the Scottish Cup, which they have won in each of the last two years, is also an important goal and they will expect an emphatic start to that quest in North Lanarkshire. That’s proved invaluable for us.“Over the course of the next six months I’m sure we’ll see them improve and develop as players. “It’s great to have them all on board. All three are young talents with very big potential and it’ll be great to nurture that.”Meanwhile, he is not about to take Airdrie lightly.“These types of games can always be difficult but we’ve done our work and analysed Airdrie, so we’ll look forward to the game on Saturday evening and look to get into the next round,” he said.“We’re looking forward to the game. We have a little run of games here at home. In my last two years here, we’ve played really well at home and have some great performances, so we want to start off the defence of the trophy again.”The Diamonds, meanwhile, lie fifth in League One but have seen some improvement in recent weeks under Ian Murray, who has guided them on a four-match undefeated run recently. The challenge that lies ahead, however, is an immense one.last_img read more

Klopp positive despite Dortmund defeat

first_imgJurgen Klopp opted to take the positives out of Liverpool’s first pre-season match in the United States after the Reds fell to a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in Indiana.Youngsters Harry Wilson and Rhian Brewster scored for the Reds, but Paco Alcacer, Thomas Delaney and Jacob Bruun Larsen were all on target for Dortmund as they recorded a win against the club led by their former boss.Internationals such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk were given their first minutes of pre-season in the second half and Klopp believed fresher players were the difference in the heat. Article continues below Editors’ Picks Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Messi a man for all Champions League seasons – but will this really be Barcelona’s? “It was tough for both teams with the circumstances – wow, it was warm,” he said.”When we had to come out for 15 minutes with the line-up from the first half and Dortmund changed and brought on fresh legs, that was the decider I would say.”There was a lot of good moments of football and you can see they are a step further in pre-season than we are.” The German added that the playing minutes were structured for good reason, despite the early part of the second half being the decisive period of the game.”It was an important session for us all. 60 minutes for one team was maybe a bit too much, but they had to go through this,” Klopp said.”30 minutes for the other team was exactly right. That’s the situation we face at the moment, that’s early pre-season, we have to do it like this and use it as the main sessions.”How we conceded the goals was due to lack of organisation around the situations. When you change a lot in the team, then it’s quite difficult to have the perfect organisation. This will be better later in pre-season.”I still don’t like what I see in the game very often in pre-season, but I know the reason for it.”Liverpool face Sevilla at Fenway Park in their next pre-season fixture. Alabama, Texas Announce Home-And-Home, Longhorns Move Ohio State Series

Fans cheer on the Texas Longhorns against the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks.AUSTIN, TX – SEPTEMBER 5: Fans cheer on the Texas Longhorns against the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks on September 5, 2009 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. (Photo by Brian Bahr/Getty Images)For years, Alabama would not play a true road game out of conference. That is coming to an end. Beginning in 2022, we’re being treated to an Alabama vs. Texas home-and-home.Texas will bring the Crimson Tide to Austin in 2022. That will be the first true road game in non-conference play for the Crimson Tide since 2011. That year, ‘Bama traveled to Penn State. The following year, the Longhorns head to Tuscaloosa. Depending on how Tom Herman has turned around Texas, these two games could be truly massive. From the Longhorns’ release on the Alabama vs. Texas series:Texas (898/2nd NCAA) and Alabama (891/5th NCAA) have combined to play 248 years of football and post 1,789 all-time victories. Having last met in the 2009 National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl, the Longhorns and Crimson Tide have played nine times dating back to 1902 with Texas holding a 7-1-1 series advantage. The traditional college football powers have only met three times on their home fields with the last coming in Austin in 1922. The Longhorns played at Alabama in 1902, and the Crimson Tide traveled to Austin in 1915. The bowl matchups have taken place in the 1947 Sugar Bowl, 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl, 1964 Orange Bowl, 1972 and 1982 Cotton Bowls and most recently the 2010 Rose Bowl.Texas and Ohio State last met in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in 2009. The two schools, with a combined 253 years of college football history, are tied for second on the NCAA all-time victory chart with 898 wins for a combined 1,796. They didn’t meet until 2005, but have met three times over the last 13 years, including a home-and-home series in 2005 and 2006. Texas holds a 2-1 advantage in those matchups. This news has an impact on a few other programs. Texas tossed in an announced home game against UTEP in 2020 to this release. The Longhorns have also canceled a potentially-notable game. UCF was set to come to Austin in 2023, which will no longer happen. There’s no telling what the Knights will be in five years, but obviously the team went undefeated this year. The biggest impact comes on Texas’s upcoming series against Ohio State. The two were set to have a home-and-home in 2022-23, but that has now been moved back to 2025-26 to accommodate Alabama vs. Texas. Texas will host the first game, and head to Columbus for the second.[Texas] read more
